The minister of Education, Science, and Sport, Dr. Jernej Pikalo and the acting general manager of the Higher Education and Science Directorate Mišela Mavrič, PhD, visited the University of Nova Gorica today. They were greeted by the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the Vice-rectors, Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina and Prof. Dr. Mladen Franko.

Our University is starting with a charity project of collecting food and other supplies for too many abandoned pets that live in our surroundings.

On Thursday, 12 December, 2013, the Rector of the Nova Gorica University, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the Vice-rectors, Prof. Dr. Mladen Franko and Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina greeted the players of the Female Handball club Mlinotest Ajdovščina at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

At the end of November, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the Vice Chancellor of the Air University from Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Ijaz A. Malik signed an agreement on mutual collaboration in the areas of faculty and student exchange, joint study programs, collaboration at scientific projects and projects involving the industry.

In 2013 HILOVV received the Slovenian National award "Apple of Quality" ("Jabolko kakovosti") for the Best Intensive Programme.

On Friday, 6 December, 2013, the Rector of the Univrsity of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik hosted the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, as part of the President’s formal visit of Gorizia (Italy). The Rector, together with the Vice-rector, Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina and the Mayor of the Vipava municipality, Ivan Princes, MSc, greeted the President in the morning at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.

Prof. Dr. Giorgio Gianighian, a faculty member of the study program Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage at the University of Nova Gorica’s Graduate School was named Vice-president of the International Research Center for Architectural Heritage Conservation at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

University of Nova Gorica is extending its internationalization and globalization efforts in the fields of environmental and biomedical sciences.

Today, the Rector of the University of Trieste, Prof. Dr. Maurizio Fermeglia paid us a visit. He was accompanied by Vice-rector, Prof. Dr. Renato Gennaro.

On Thursday, 28 November, 2013, the University of Nova Gorica, in collaboration with the Postojna Municipality, prepared a scientific-cultural event “Hand in Hand Towards Limitless Knowledge.” It took place in the Cultural Center in Postojna.

Yesterday, the debate and consultation on the amending act in Higher education law took place on the University of Nova Gorica’s premises at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava. The meeting was co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the University of Nova Gorica.

On Friday, 22 November, 2013, the Union Hall in Maribor hosted a formal celebration dedicated to giving out the Zois awards, the Ambassador of Science awards, as well as the Puh awards. The Zois award and the Ambassador of Science award were also given to two faculty members of the University of Nova Gorica.

On Friday, 15 November, 2013, the University of Nova Gorica was visited by the French Ambassador, His Excellency Pierre-Francois Mourier.

The public call for the selling, renting, or assigning of the building rights for the continuous area of land which can also be used for the building of the university center ended at the end of October.

On Wednesday, 6 November, 2013 a commencement ceremony for bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree students who received their degrees at the University of Nova Gorica took place at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

University of Nova Gorica linguists Franc Marušič and Rok Žaucer, together with colleagues from the University of California, San Diego, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University College London and King Saud University, published an article in the high-impact journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, in which they report the results of a study of how children’s acquisition of number words is affected by the grammar of the language they are growing up with.

Slovenia Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education - NAKVIS – approved accreditation to the University of Nova Gorica for seven more years. This, according to law, is the longest possible time to get accreditation for.

The alumni meeting of all the schools of the University of Nova Gorica took place on Friday, 18 October, 2013. It successfully completed this year's events which were part of the University of Nova Gorica Week.

On Thursday, 17 October, 2013 at the 23rd Fair and Technical Consultation Conference of the Maintenance Workers of Slovenia in Otočec, the Association of Maintenance Workers of Slovenia handed out awards for best bachelor’s theses in the field of maintenance.

On Monday, 23 September, 2013, the University of Nova Gorica and the Kayak Club of the Soške elektrarne Nova Gorica signed an agreement on collaboration.
