Faculty members at the University of Nova Gorica prof. dr. Juš Kocijan and prof. dr. Tadej Bajd are the co-authors of the “Terminological Dictionary of Automatics,” which recently got published by the ZRC Publishing House.

On Wednesday, 5 November, 2014, there was a graduation ceremony at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava. Bachelor’s and Master’s diplomas, as well as PhDs have been awarded to the current graduates of the University of Nova Gorica.

On Wednesday, 5 November and on Thursday, 6 November, 2014, the graduation ceremony for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral students of the University of Nova Gorica was held at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.

The Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik took the stage as the honorable speaker at the Reformation Day celebration event on Thursday, 30 October, 2014, at the Slovene National Theater in Nova Gorica.

On Saturday, 11 October, 2014, the University of Nova Gorica hosted the DMFA association (Association of Mathematicians, Physics, and Astronomers) and the DUP association (Association of University Professors).

On Friday, 26 September, 2014, the Nahtigal recognition awards were given out to the awardees at the University Research center in Novo mesto. The purpose of the awards is improving research culture in the Dolenjska and Bela krajina regions and pointing out to the excellent achievements of the individuals and groups in the area of research work and mentoring of younger scholars.

In June of this year, a prestigious publishing house Oxford University Press published a monograph by a faculty member of the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica who also works as a researcher at the Karst Research Institute at ZRC SAZU.

Today, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik had a reception event for a student Matija Stupar, who became the national champion in the mountain biking 4-kross discipline this year.

On Thursday, 18 September, 2014, the Secretariat of the Alpine Convention had an award ceremony in the Italian town of Darfo Boario Terme.

Between 10 - 15 September and under the auspices of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (OZS), the University of Nova Gorica presented itself at the MOS (International Trade and Business Fair) in Celje.

Yesterday, at the Vipavska trgatev (the Vipava Harvest) event, the representatives of the Lidl Slovenia company and of the School of Viticulture and Enology of the University of Nova Gorica introduced their joining their efforts at the Lidl’s Young Vintner competition.

Female handball club Mlinotest Ajdovščina, with which the University of Nova Gorica signed a collaboration agreement last year, got another recognition that reaffirms the club’s efforts towards improving female handball in Ajdovščina.

The process of getting chosen for the UNESCO chair was successfully completed this June (26.6.2014), with the signing of an agreement between UNG and UNESCO. At UNG, an UNESCO Chair was founded and called UNESCO Chair on Karst Education. There still exists a strong collaboration on this with the ZRC SAZU Karst Research Institute. Out of the 800 UNESCO Chairs in 132 countries, this is the first UNESCO Chair in Slovenia.

In the scientific journal Account of Chemical Research (IF=20.8), a scientific associate of the Materials Research Laboratory at the University of Nova Gorica, Doc. Dr. Layla Martin-Samos Colomer published – in collaboration with L. Zoppi and K.K. Baldridge from the Zürich University – a research article titled “Structure−Property Relationships of Curved Aromatic Materials from First Principles”.

On 7 July, 2014 and on the initiative of the University of Nova Gorica’s Rector, the Lanthieri Mansion hosted a meeting that brought together the Rector of the University of Primorska, Prof. Dr. Dragan Marušič, the Rector of the University of Trieste, Prof. Dr. Maurizio Fermeglia, Vice-rector of the Videm University, Prof. Dr. Antonella Riem, the Head of the International School for Advanced Studies – SISSA – Prof. Dr. Guido Martinelli and the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik.

On Tuesday, 1 July, 2014, as part of their visit to Slovenia, the Israeli Economic Delegation also visited the University of Nova Gorica.

On Monday, 23 June, 2014, the Lanthieri Mansion of the University of Nova Gorica hosted a reception for the ŽRK Mlinotest Ajdovščina Youth Handball Team. The team’s management board, the coaches and the team were greeted by the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and two Vice-rectors.

On 17 June and 18 June, 2014, a workshop titled "International Workshop on Solar Energy Materials – SOLMAT 2014" took place in the University of nova Gorica’s venue in the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava. The workshop was also attended by Manisha Chhikara, MSc, a doctoral candidate in the Physics Program at the University of Nova Gorica’s Graduate School and a collaborator of the Laboratory of Organic Matter Physics. She received the award for the best poster at the workshop.
