PROF. DR. BOGOMIL BERGANT

On Monday, 23 June, 2014, the Lanthieri Mansion of the University of Nova Gorica hosted a reception for the ŽRK Mlinotest Ajdovščina Youth Handball Team. The team’s management board, the coaches and the team were greeted by the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and two Vice-rectors.

On 17 June and 18 June, 2014, a workshop titled "International Workshop on Solar Energy Materials – SOLMAT 2014" took place in the University of nova Gorica’s venue in the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava. The workshop was also attended by Manisha Chhikara, MSc, a doctoral candidate in the Physics Program at the University of Nova Gorica’s Graduate School and a collaborator of the Laboratory of Organic Matter Physics. She received the award for the best poster at the workshop.

On Thursday 5 June 2014, as part of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice, the University of Nova Gorica hosted a visit of the Ministry of Culture and Communication of the Republic of France in Venice premises.

On Wednesday, 11 June and on Thursday, 12 June, 2014, the graduation ceremony for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral students of the University of Nova Gorica was held at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.

Doc. dr. Ana Toroš from the School of Humanities at the University of nova Gorica received the Brda Municipality award at the special meeting of the Brda Municipal Council at the Dobrovo Castle.

Prof. Paola Eugenia Falini, professor of Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture of the University La Sapienza of Rome and a member of the University of Nova Gorica has received the prestigious award from the Architectural Institute of Japan for the outstanding contribution to the culture of Architecture in the year 2014.

The University of Nova Gorica devotes special attention to sports. One of the more important steps towards better collaboration between science and sports is also last year’s signing of the agreement with the Female handball club Mlinotest Ajdovščina.

Doc. Dr. Kaja Širok, the Head of the National Museum of Contemporary History and a staff member of the University of Nova Gorica, was awarded with a distinguished Italian award by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

Prof. Dr. Tadej Bajd who is affiliated with the University of Nova Gorica, has been recently elected as the new President of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Between 14 and 16 April, 2014, as part of the conference “The Days of Slovene Informatics 2014”, awards were given to students in the area of computer science and informatics.

On Monday, April 24, 2014, the University of Nova Gorica organized, for the second time now, its Eastern Concert at Sveta Gora near Nova Gorica. We hosted the Ave Chamber Choir.

At yesterday’s meeting of the University of Nova Gorica’s Management board a decision was reached that Vipava would become the building site for University’s campus, on condition that the Vipava Municipality, within the next six month, changes the purpose of the land availability and makes sure that flood safety has been taken care of.

On the basis of a signed agreement The University of Nova Gorica and the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice will start a conjoint Master’s program in Environmental Studies that is being carried out by the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica, as well as a conjoint Master’s program in Environmental and Sustainable Chemical Technologies that is being carried out by the Department for Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

The University of Nova Gorica, in collaboration with the municipality of Nova Gorica, the Solkan community, the literary club Govorica from the Goriška region, and the Nova Gorica Slavic Association, organizes a symposium that celebrates the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Slovene female writer and poet Pavlina Pajk (9 April, 1854 – 1 June, 1901), who started her literary career in Solkan.

On Thursday, March 27, 2014, the Research Center of the University of Nova Gorica in Ajdovščina hosted the grand opening of the Center for Microscopy and Spectroscopy.

On March 13 and 14, 2014, the University of Nova Gorica hosted Prof. Dr. Mark D. Maughmer (Pennsylvania State University) and Prof. Dr. Luigi Martinelli (Princeton University) who are world-famous experts in the area of aerodynamics as well as in planning and development of aircraft components.

On Tuesday, 11 March 2014, the final ceremony of the "Gospodarstvenik Primorske za leto 2013" took place in Nova Gorica.

On Wednesday, 19 February and on Thursday, 20 February, 2014, the graduation ceremony for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral students of the University of Nova Gorica was held at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.
