On 17 and 18 June 2013, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik, along with the two Vice-rectors, visited the Russian city Dubno.

On Thursday, 13 June, 2013 a commencement ceremony for bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree students who received their degrees at the University of Nova Gorica took place at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2013, a Russian delegation from the city of Dubno visited the University of Nova Gorica as part of its visit at the Nova Gorica Town Hall.

The Austrian Ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Clemens Koja visited the University of Nova Gorica as part of his visit at the Nova Gorica Town Hall.

On Wednesday, 13 March 2013, the final ceremony of the "Gospodarstvenik Primorske za leto 2012" took place in Nova Gorica.

At the end of February, the University of Nova Gorica and Ca' Foscari University of Venice signed an agreement on conferring dual degrees to students of the Master's program in Environment at the School of Environmental Sciences (University of Nova Gorica) and to the students of the Master's program in Sustainable Chemistry and Technology that is part of the Department of Molecular Sciences and NanoSystems at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

On Thursday, 21 February, 2013 a commencement ceremony for bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree students who received their degrees at the University of Nova Gorica took place at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

The Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and Vipava’s Mayor, Ivan Princes, M.Sc., signed a contract today on the leasing out of the property of the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

In 2012, the faculty and staff of the School of Applied Sciences formed connections with the institutions and individuals who believe that Slovenia’s future is much dependent on the innovative and well-educated youth population that will easily keep up with the current, topical events in the world of sciences and technical matters. The result of these connections is the creation of the scholarship fund “Young Physicists 2020”. In includes donations that will, through scholarships, already in the academic year 2013/2014, enable students to enroll in the Bachelor's Study Programme Physics (First Level) at the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica.

On Thursday, 31 January, 2013, a German member of the European Parliament, Mr. Jo Leinen, will visit the University of Nova Gorica. At 3 p.m. the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the Vice-rector for Research. Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina will meet with Mr. Leinen.

The collaborating partners of the national program “Women in Science,” namely, L’Oreal Slovenia, Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO, and the Slovenian Science Foundation awarded fellowships to the seventh generation of junior female researchers at a formal ceremony that took place at the National Museum of Slovenia yesterday. 5000 euro fellowship was given to Tina Jerman Klen, a junior researcher at the Wine Research Center and a final year doctoral student in the program Environmental Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica. The fellowship can be used for any type of research within the program’s parameters.

On 23 January, 2013, Brazilian Ambassador to Slovenia, His Excellency Gilberto Fonseca Guimarães de Moura will visit the University of Nova Gorica.

On 9 January, 2013, the University of Nova Gorica hosted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Slovenia, His Excellency Johannes Doumo.

On Monday, January 7, 2013, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik, the President of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia, Alojz Kovšca, and the President of the Science and Technology Committee at the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia, Janez Škrlec signed an agreement on collaboration.

Top quality basic and applied research in combination with pedagogical activities form the main activity of the University of Nova Gorica, as the income gained from this activity constitutes more than half of the University’s budget.

On Thursday, 25 October 2012, the awarding of the "Scholarship of Škrabec's association" took place at the “Škrabčeva domačija" in Ribnica.

The French Minister of Culture and Communication, Mrs. Aurélie Filipetti, has visited our University at it’s Venice premises on the occasion of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice.

In the 2012/2013 academic year, the School of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica will organise courses of English, Italian, German and Slovene.

Intensive scientific research activities take place at the University of Nova Gorica, which extend into European and wider areas. Recently, the University is successfully setting up cooperation with China’s rapidly growing industry and their research and educational institutions and agencies.

The researchers of the Laboratory for Organic Matter Physics, University of Nova Gorica Dr. Egon Pavlica and Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina, together with colleagues from the University of Strasbourg, France, Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany and Stanford University, USA, have published an article in a prominent scientific journal Nature Chemistry on the June 24th.
