On Wednesday, 17 June and on Thursday, 18 June, 2015, the graduation ceremony for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral students of the University of Nova Gorica was held at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.

On Monday, 1 June, 2015, Slovenian foreign Minister Karel Erjavec prepared a visit for the leaders of the diplomatic missions in the Republic of Slovenia in the Vipava Valley and in the Karst region. 26 ambassadors went on this trip.

At the University of Nova Gorica’s venue in the Lanthieri Mansion a reception and a medal ceremony took place yesterday. The medals were given to the female handball team of Mlinotest Ajdovščina who took the third place in the 1. A female state championship.

A video and a series of graphics by Vanja Mervič (Masters of Arts) which were created by using the line electronic microscope and were part of the international project of the University of Nova Gorica, called SUNGREEN (http://sungreen.ung.si), received an award of the Majski salon that is given out by the Association of the Slovene fine arts creators and was dedicated to the theme of »Air«.

On Friday, 15 May, 2015, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the head manager of the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p., Mag. Ivan Princes signed an agreement which gives the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p. the status of an associate organisation of the University of Nova Gorica and became an integral part of the University of Nova Gorica’s system.

A yearly conference of European energy managers took place in Prague between 21 and 23 April 2015. This year, Ivana Kacafura from the GOLEA agency was present as well.

The female handball team Mlinotest Ajdovščina achieved an exceptional success in Ljubljana on Saturday. After many years, they managed to beat the virtually unbeatable female handball team Krim Merctor, who won at the state championship 20 times.

The European University Association asked all European Universities to dedicate a moment of silence to the victims of the recent terrorist attack on a Kenyan University. All universities should join in a moment of silence on Monday 27 April at noon (Central European Time).

On Thursday, 9 April, 2015, as part of the biannual conference called Automatization in the Industry and Economy Sector AIG’15, the Technological Network called the Technology of Process Management gave our special awards.

On Monday, 16 March, 2015, the members of the Council for Sustainability and Environment Protection at the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning (MOP) elected Suzana Žižek, a faculty member at the School of Environmental Sciences (at University of Nova Gorica) as the President of the Council.

Dr. Iva Mrak, who successfully completed her graduate studies at the Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage program at the University of Nova Gorica, recently received an award for best Ph.D. thesis in the area of innovative methods and tools for promoting adaptable, creative and sustainable places.

In February, Prof. Dr. Stojan Plesničar, an Professor Emeritus at the University of Nova Gorica, turned 90.

On Thursday, 12 March 2015, the final ceremony of the "Gospodarstvenik Primorske za leto 2014" took place in Nova Gorica.

On Saturday, 7 March, 2015, three faculty members of the University of Nova Gorica became, on the basis of the decision of the Senate of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and on the recommendation of the Nomination Committee proper.

The School of Applied Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica is hosting the Slovene part of the competition in astronomy (based on the Saint Petersburg School of Astronomy) and will be carried out also under the auspices of the Slovenian Association of Mathematicians, Physicists, and Astronomers (DMFA).

On Wednesday, 25 February, 2015, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and Dr. Elisabetta Kovic, the headmaster of the Humanistic and Scientific Lyceum »S. Gregorčič” and the Classical Lyceum »P. Trubar« (the Slovene lyceum in Gorizia) signed an agreement on mutual collaboration.

A monograph titled Fuzzy Algebraic Hyperstructures: An Introduction and co-written by Assistant Professor Dr. Irina Cristea, a member of the Center for Systems and Information Technologies of the University of Nova Gorica, and Prof. Dr. Bijan Davvaz, one of the key researchers in the area that the book describes, was just published by the world-renowned publishing house Springer.

Since 2004 the Centre for Atmospheric Research (CRA) at the University of Nova Gorica has actively investigated a variety of atmospheric properties, including the Bora wind.
