Cilji in kompetence
Študent se seznani z lastnostmi ozračja in osnovnimi fizikalnimi zakonitostmi, ki krojijo vremenske in podnebne razmere. Posebna pozornost pri tem je namenjena energijskim tokovom, vodnemu krogu in dinamiki ozračja. Spozna načine pridobivanja meteoroloških podatkov in tipične vrednostmi osnovnih meteoroloških spremenljivk. Nauči se, kako s pomočjo pridobljenih podatkov opisujemo podnebne razmere ter ob dodatni uporabi fizikalnih zakonitosti, opisanih v numeričnih modelih, napovedujemo prihodnje vreme. Pri tem študent razvija predvsem spretnost povezovanja osnovnega znanja iz matematike in različnih naravoslovnih ved.
Pogoji za vključitev v delo oz. za opravljanje študijskih obveznosti
Za uspešno razumevanje snovi je potrebno srednješolsko znanje matematike in fizike.

Poznavanje lastnosti ozračja, osnov fizike in dinamike ozračja, različnih merilnih tehnik v meteorologiji, uporabe meteoroloških podatkov za opis podnebja, lastnosti podnebja v Sloveniji ter procesa napovedovanja vremena.
