On 16 February 2022, the Municipality of Nova Gorica received a visit from Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Matjaž Valant, Vice-Rector for Sustainable Development and Technology of the University of Nova Gorica.

On 10 February 2022, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia granted a concession to the School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica for the implementation of the undergraduate study programme Digital Arts and Practices.

Within the Slovenian Chemical Society, a new Section for the Environment has been established, of which main mission is to promote cooperation, networking and exchange of experience between experts from various fields of chemistry dealing with environmental issues, in order to raise public awareness in understanding current environmental issues and events. The aim of the Section will also be a promotion of the proper use of chemistry to evaluate and solve environmental issues and to address important aspects of environmental chemistry that need regulation. In addition, the Section for the Environment will encourage integration of new contents from the field of environmental chemistry into educational system and cooperation with international environmental organizations.

Extreme pilot Matevž Lenarčič and head of the Centre for Atmosphere Research at the University of Nova Gorica Dr. Griša Močnik completed 11 research flights over the Cape Verde archipelago in September 2021, as part of a measurement campaign of the European Space Agency (ESA).

The inauguration of the new rector, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob, of the University of Nova Gorica took place yesterday at the premises of the University of Nova Gorica, in the Lanthieri Mansion.

Today, the well-known Slovenian aviator and climate change researcher Matevž Lenarčič, together with the leader of the GLWF (Green Light World Flight) scientific research team, Dr. Griša Močnik (University of Nova Gorica), flew from the airport in Slovenske Konjice towards Sarajevo, where in the coming days he will carry out measurements of aerosolised particles in the atmosphere over the area, which is one of the most polluted in Europe and in the world. The first part of the mission will involve measurements over Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Lenarčič flying over Banja Luka, Zenica, Kakanj and Sarajevo, and continuing over Ugljevik and Tuzla. Lenarčič and Močnik will continue their measurements in early April, when they are scheduled to fly over parts of Serbia that are also considered highly polluted.

In the context of the 27th International Festival of Computer Arts (IFCA), the Maribor Youth Culture Centre, in cooperation with five Slovenian educational institutions (the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana, the School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Maribor, and the AVA Academy of Visual Arts from Ljubljana), published a call for students to send in their intermedia art projects for the IFCA 2021 student award.

On Friday, 8 October 2021, the Kostanjevica Nova Gorica Franciscan Monastery hosted the Škrabec Days 12 symposium organised by the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, the ZRC SAZU Research Station in Nova Gorica, and the School of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica.

On 1 October, The Slovenian Biochemical Society awarded the Lapanje distinction for young members of the Slovenian Biochemical Society for outstanding achievements in biochemical sciences to Dr. Fabio Lapenta, a post-doctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Environmental and Life Science at the University of Nova Gorica.

On September 28, on the cusp of the new academic year, we awarded the title of Professor Emeritus and the Golden Plate of the University of Nova Gorica at the award ceremony held at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava.
