Literature of the Slovenians in Austria

The students, who successfully pass the exam, possess a good knowledge of the Slovenian literature in Austria. They are able to transfer this knowledge into the analyses of other literatures of minorities.

Succesful study is vertically connected with other subjects about literary history in the obligatory courses Slovene literature I, II, III. At the horizontal level the subject connects with other subjects considering literary history and criticism. It also connects with the subjects from the field of linguistics.

The history of Slovenian Culture in Carinthia from the Middle Ages to the recent days, first Slovenian linguistic documents, the survey of Slovenian literary and cultural history in Carinthia.
Presentation and analysis of different periods and thematical blocks, authors and selected works from the 19th and 20th century.
Literary bilingualism, performing arts, visual arts, film and other cultural activities of Slovenians in Carinthia
Meaning, imaginarium and imagology of Slovenian Culture (especially in Carinthia) in relation to Austrian literature
Slovenian literature in Carinthia as an example of littérature mineure (G. Deleuze – F. Guattari); literatures of national minorities is the European context.

Students understand the specific development of Slovenian literature in Austria, the specifities of literary writing in the multilingual space, they read the most important works of Slovenian writers in Austria, they are able to interprete these works and to put them into the context of literary writing within minorities.
