At the 3rd national conference of the Rectors’ Conference of the Republic of Slovenia, “Universities – Co-creators of an Inclusive Community”, on 25 September 2026 at the Faculty of Management of the University of Primorska, Assoc. Prof. Jasna Hribernik and UNG School of Arts student Vanja Miloš Jovanović will present Tactile Gallery: Art Beyond the Visible.

The project was created in collaboration with the Goriški muzej and the Intermunicipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Nova Gorica, and is part of the official GO! 2025 programme. It brings together art, academia, the museum and the community, exploring how art can be made more accessible to blind and visually impaired people through tactile experiences. Jasna and Vanja will present the contribution of the UNG School of Arts and the video created through the students’ work.

More about the Art Beyond the Visible project:
See. I Touch. I Feel.
Art Beyond the Visible
How can visual art be made accessible to blind and visually impaired people? How can we find ways to blur the boundaries between the visible and the invisible?
The School of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica joined the Art Beyond the Visible project, developed in collaboration between Goriški muzej and the Intermunicipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired Nova Gorica, through the project segment The World in the Making. Here, artists adapted their works for tactile experience already during the creative process and subsequently exhibited them in the Tactile Gallery.
The project was conceived as an experiment by David Kožuh, curator and educator at Goriški muzej, bringing together artists and blind and visually impaired people to collaborate in creating new, accessible works of art. Under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Jasna Hribernik, School of Arts students Vanja Miloš Jovanović, Tenej Davidović and Filip Kosmač used the camera to capture moments of touch, encounters with materials, flashes of thought and the emergence of new ideas. These encounters resulted in a sensitive video work combining image, sound and sign language.
Art Beyond the Visible opens up a space for different ways of experiencing art, new forms of connection, and the creation of art that belongs to everyone.
