Lecture will take place on Thursday, 19 November 2026, at 5 p.m. at the the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.
ABSTRACT:
Black holes are often described as dark and destructive. But as astronomers have learned more about them, they have come to realise that these enigmatic objects play a constructive role in the Universe. In this talk, Jonas Enander will explain what black holes are, how we can observe them, how they influence their surroundings and how they rather surprisingly can be used to navigate and study our own planet.
Lecture will be in English.
You are cordially invited.
