University of Nova Gorica invites to the public lecture When we will obtain energy from water? by Prof. Dr. Luka Snoj (Jožef Stefan Institute).
Lecture will take place on Thursday, 7 November 2024, at 5 p.m. at the the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.
Lecture will be in English.
Fusion, the process of merging hydrogen nuclei that powers the Sun and stars, promises a safe and sustainable solution for energy production on Earth. In France, the construction of the large ITER facility unites scientists from around the world to demonstrate that fusion can be used as a reliable energy source. The key question currently is whether we will be able to generate energy using facilities like ITER within the next 30 years, and if water- an element that covers more than two-thirds of the Earth’s surface- will drive the power plants of the future.
