Saim Emin is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nova Gorica. He obtained his B.Sc. degree from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Bulgaria and completed both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies in Chemistry at Saitama University in Japan. He received his Ph.D. in 2010 with a dissertation focused on the synthesis and characterization of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals. After completing his doctoral studies, he continued his research as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Tsukuba, Japan, and subsequently at the University of Nova Gorica, where he has held the position of Associate Professor since 2019.
His research focuses on the development of functional inorganic materials for sustainable energy conversion and catalysis, particularly in the fields of electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and photoelectrochemistry. His research interests include metal oxides, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), transition-metal phosphides, carbides, chalcogenides, and semiconductor nanomaterials.
