Objectives and competences

Students will be introduced to the basics of machine learning and data analysis techniques. They will be able to utilise these techniques on a broad range of real world data, from images to texts.

Prerequisites

Linear Algebra (1FAF02)
Mathematical physics I (1FAF11)
Computer programming (1FAF09)

Content

  1. Data Structure and regression + binary classification.
  2. Artificial Neural Network: How to build it? Understanding the inner workings. Backpropagation.
  3. Convolutional Neural Network: What is convolution and how modern systems ‘see’ images.
  4. Natural Language Processing: How AI systems process and understand your texts?

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will:
1. Learn the building blocks of modern AI algorithms.
2. Learn on how to apply of those algorithms on real-world datasets.
3. Apply the learned techniques from this course to the participant's own use case.
