Objectives and competences
Students are able to critically evaluate the importance of historical events and processes. They enhance the ability of independent research, specific skills in written and oral communication and public speaking.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the historical processes in the 20th century which students acquire at the mandatory subjects in the first academic year (The World Wars of the 20th century and Political History of the Habsburg Monarchy in the 19th and 20th centuries).
Content
Students acquire in-depth insight into the historical forces at the time of Yugoslavia after the First World War, for the period between the two world wars in the formation of the unstable democratic system in an extremely culturally and socially diverse country with various views of opinion leaders on cultural policy for the period after the Second World War in undemocratic regime with a range of diverse political and cultural strategies on the Slovenian level that were combined by the communist ideology.
Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
Students are able to understand the historical events of the early 20th century until the disintegration of Yugoslavia (1991/1992). They are able to understand and analyze historical texts and critically evaluate the elements of democratic society.
Assessment
Seminar paper (50%) and oral exam (50%)
