Objectives and competences
The main target of the course is to provide a general overview about rural tourism, in particular as regars agritourism in a European context. Special attention will be paid to the provision of economic and managerial skills in the field of rural tourism, which is a dimension of the multifunctional role of farm.
Also enotourism will be included into the learning objects.

- Part I: An introduction to the economics of agritourism: Multifunctional Development of rural areas. The concept of rural tourism. The concept of agritourism. The economic and social importance of agritourism.
- Part II: The economics and management of agritourism: Agritourism Ventures. Regulations of agritourism activities. The organisation of an agritourism farm. The economics of agritourism enterprises. Agritourist services and products. Agritourists. Agritourism markets.
- Part III: Agrotourist entities and enterprises: Agrotouristic pillars. Facilitating agritoursm. Agritourist farms and enterprises around the world. The agritourism characteristics in European Union, Slovenia and Italy.
- Part IV: Wine Tourism: The concept of wine tourism. The economic and social importance of wine tourism. The economics and management of wine tourism and wine roads. Cases studies (European Union, Slovenia and Italy)
Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
Know how to identify the concept of rural development and to enhance the awareness of the effects of agricultural practices. Understand the role of agritourism and enotourism to develop rural areas. Have a good up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of a range of institutional measures in this field.
Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subjects of the course, including the contribution that the subjects/curriculum areas can make to 'start up' and manage business in rural/wine toursm.
