Scientific Talks

The Research Center for the Humanities also presents the results of its research through conversational evenings and matinées.

In a dialogue titled Technology Takes a Huge Eco-Social Toll. What’s Left for Communities and Art?, Chris Csíkszentmihályi (Cornell University) and Peter Purg (University of Nova Gorica) discussed the environmental and social costs of modern technologies – especially artificial intelligence and crypto mining – and how the biggest benefits go to corporations and elites. The event was held at Maks Café in Nova Gorica on July 7 as part of a joint project between Slovenia and the US called Research and Community Art as Ecological Avant-Garde, led by Dr. Purg and Dr. Csíkszentmihályi with support from ARIS.
