Peroxidase zymograms
Peroxidase zymograms obtained by agarose native gel electrophoresis have unmet resolution and completeness
Importance:
Zymographs are a potent tool for enzymatic isoform characterization. We established a new methodological standard by adapting a native agarose gel format and expect that this approach will provide high-quality results when applied to forest tree samples.
Graphy was established:
- Both acid and basic isoforms were separated and stained in a single gel
- The resolution and completeness are substantially improved with respect to conventional approaches
- It was possible to double the number of peroxidase isoforms identifiable in a zymogram
