Assistant in the field of Physics/Astrophysics

We invite applications from candidates interested in pursuing a prospective research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer work in a dynamic research environment with strong integration into international academic community.

The work will be carried out within the Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology. The selected candidate will be directly involved in research within the Slovenian AI Factory-SLAIF (Horizon-JU-EURHPC-2025-AI-01-IBA) project.

Main tasks:
* Vertical Services for Sectorial Applications (WP5)
* AI Skills and Training (WP6)
* Outreach and Dissemination (WP7)

Application requirements:
* Master’s degree (second-cycle Bologna) in the field of physics,
* knowledge of high-energy physics and cosmic-ray physics,
* experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, and other relevant languages,
* experience in the field of artificial intelligence,
* experience with the Linux operating system, distributed computing systems, or high-performance,
* computing infrastructure,
* strong written and oral communication skills,
* good command of the English language.

The expected starting date is immediately after the conclusion of the application period, or by agreement. A fixed-term full-time employment contract will be concluded with the selected candidate until 31 December 2026.

* a list of scientific publications.
