Vera Rubin Observatory – First Look Event
The University of Nova Gorica invites you to join us for a remarkable event, the release of the first images from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, which will mark the beginning of a new era in astronomy.
The event will take place on Monday, 23 June 2025, at 16:30 in the amphitheatre lecture room of the UNG Campus in Ajdovščina (Vipavska 11c, Ajdovščina), as part of a series of simultaneous First Look events around the world: https://rubinobservatory.org/news/rubin-first-look/rubin-party
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory will carry out a 10-year survey of the sky, called the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), using the largest digital camera ever built to capture a colour film of the Universe with 40 billion celestial objects. The US-Chilean project also involves researchers from other countries, including the Centre for Astrophysics and Cosmology at the University of Nova Gorica.
