Dimitrij Angjelovski

Hello! My name is Dimitrij Angjelovski and I come from Kumanovo, N. Macedonia. I study Physics and Astrophysics at the School of Science of the University of Nova Gorica, and I would like to share my experience so far.

I decided to study at this school because I was attracted by the programme’s strong focus on the experimental side of physics. In addition, I was drawn to the laboratories and research centres run by the university, as well as the fact that many of the professors are active researchers working precisely in those laboratories and centres. Therefore, I was not surprised when, throughout the lectures, the professors enthusiastically shared their knowledge and skills with great dedication. They successfully explained the course material by masterfully intertwining profound theoretical concepts with practical examples and applications. After the lectures, discussions were always welcome, involving both students and professors, either on the topics covered in class or on broader related subjects.

Alongside the lectures, I was also given the opportunity to develop my research skills through independent laboratory work, in addition to the standard laboratory exercises. The professors were always open and supportive, offering additional tasks, guidance, or constructive feedback. The smaller size of the student groups enabled professors to take an individual approach to each student. The breakfasts, which were held every other Tuesday, provided an additional opportunity for socialising and discussion, attended by both students and professors.

Another important aspect I would like to highlight is the international character of the school and the university in a broader sensel. The school participates in and collaborates with various European and international projects and laboratories. On campus, there are students and researchers from all over the world. This gave me the opportunity to meet people with diverse worldviews and perspectives and to form lasting friendships. Through the Erasmus+ programme, new students join the lectures every year, and students of this school also have the opportunity to spend up to one year on exchange at another institution. Although lectures and exams are conducted exclusively in English, I also had the opportunity to attend a Slovenian language course organised by the School of Humanities.

If you like the experience I have shared with you here, do not hesitate! I warmly invite you to join the School of Science at the University of Nova Gorica.
