Danaja Valant, MSc student of Environment

I am a master's student in Environmental Studies, and for me, this program is truly enjoyable. Due to the smaller number of students, classes take place in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing for better interaction with professors who are always approachable, friendly, and accommodating. The university staff (administration, student office, international office, etc.) is always available and genuinely strives to assist students.

The study program is highly individualized, offering a wide range of elective courses that allow me to develop my own interests. I have even taken some courses from other study programs and universities. There are not many lectures, with more emphasis on independent work, which gives me greater flexibility in managing my time. The curriculum is multidisciplinary and includes soft skills, which I find incredibly important in today's world.

At first, I was concerned about commuting, as I come from Ljubljana, but my classmates and I quickly organized carpooling. When that was not possible, I used Prevozi.org. In terms of travel time, it takes me about the same amount as if I had to take a bus across Ljubljana.

Most classes take place in the beautiful setting of the Lanthieri Mansion, which I really enjoyed. There, we always had access to fruit, tea, and hot water, and on Thursdays, we were even treated to a free student breakfast.

During my final year, I participated in two Erasmus+ traineeships. First, I went to Guatemala to work at a permaculture institute, and later to Peru, where I joined an eco-village project. I received incredible support from both the university and Erasmus, which made this an unforgettable experience.
