Tinkara Rijavec, student of the Bsc study programme Engineering and Management

Hello! I am Tinkara Rijavec, and I come from Ajdovščina.

Studying Engineering and Management at the University of Nova Gorica has been an exceptional experience for me, allowing me to gain a broad range of knowledge in the fields of engineering and economics. The programme is highly practice-oriented, which I particularly liked, as we often connected theory with real-life examples from the economy and industry.

The curriculum is diverse and covers a wide range of topics that are actually applied in companies. In the first year, the subjects are more general and provide a solid foundation, while in the second and third years, they become more practical and focused on concrete actual cases. This diversity of subjects has helped me better understand business operations and recognize my own interests. During my studies, I realized that I am particularly interested in the field of logistics, which is one of the elective courses, and I have deepened my knowledge in this area.

In addition to professional knowledge, the program also includes courses that are extremely useful in both personal and professional life. I learned how to lead a team, communicate effectively with colleagues, and resolve conflicts – skills that are crucial in any work environment.

One major advantage of studying at the University of Nova Gorica is the smaller number of students, meaning that you are not just a number. Professors can dedicate more time to each individual, are accessible for questions, and are willing to help with understanding the material. Project assignments and group work have further contributed to the development of practical skills as well as the ability to collaborate and adapt to different situations. Practical placements in companies were also an excellent opportunity to get to know the real work environment and connect with potential employers.

I would recommend this study programme to anyone interested in combining technology and business and who seeks broad career opportunities – from production and logistics to management and business development. It is designed for those who want to acquire additional knowledge and expand their perspective, not limiting themselves solely to numbers, but rather learning how to analyze, interpret, and find technological and procurement solutions to optimize them.
