Ivan Devetak, athlete and student of the Master's study programme Engineering and Management

When choosing my field of study, I had no difficulties – I liked the study programme Engineering and Management immediately when I first checked its curriculum.

The biggest advantages of studying at our university are small study groups, which allow professors to dedicate more attention to us, and the fact that the program includes a six-month practical placement. I am currently still completing my practical placement at Intra Lighting, d. o. o., and I would like to work here in the future, too. The high employment opportunities are precisely why I would recommend studying at this university to future students.

I am able to balance playing volleyball and my studies thanks to the university and its adapted modes of study for athletes. For example, the School allows me to choose my own exam dates. I was also a recipient of the UNG Foundation scholarship for students athletes, which significantly helps cover my transportation costs for training.

Ivan Devetak is a volleyball player and a member of the Soča Sports Association from Sovodnje/Savogna near Gorizia (Italy), with whom he achieved 5th place among 20 teams at the 2019 Italian U18 National Volleyball Championship. In the 2022/23 season, he was a member of the Pozzo Pradamano club from Udine, competing in the Italian National B League.

Ivan is a recipient of the University of Nova Gorica Foundation scholarship for student-athletes – the "Matija Franko" Scholarship Fund for Student-Athletes, as well as the Dorče Sardoč Fund scholarship for outstanding students of the Slovenian national community in Italy for the 2023/2024 academic year.
