Antoinette Wentworth, Namibia, MSc student of Leadership in Open Education
When I received the request from Professor Jako, A. K. Olivier, the UNESCO Chair on Multimodal Learning and Open Education Resources at North West University in Pretoria, South Africa, to share the announcement of the master's in Leadership in Open Education scholarship, I did just that. I shared it.
Shortly before the closing date, I submitted my application. I landed an interview, and the rest is history.
I am enjoying this Study Programme to the fullest. The content is relevant to contemporary. Our professors are experts in their field of open education and apply the newest open education practices. Through the flipped classroom approach, they are building collaborative dialogue in all our online classes and beyond. We have been taken back to the history of open education and brought back to the current. We are introduced to experts in the field of Open Education. We arrange and plan workshops to invite these experts to class to engage with them at a high level. We are taught to engage and build upon each other's thoughts and exposed to and analyse advanced, complex research articles. We are introduced to the latest technologies for communication and research. For each assessment/assignment, we received evaluative rubrics to guide our assessment. Their response rate to questions has not disappointed me. Their passion is rubbing off on me…😊
I appreciate and embrace the warm welcome and continuous interaction with UNG staff within this study programme. The check-ins and general chats, and invitations to visit Slovenia are fantastic.
The technical assistance is phenomenal. Our communication has been improved with rocket. Chat. With the support of our lecturers and the technical support team, all students who lacked the skills to participate in complex learning conversations were well prepared to have academic conversations in the virtual space.
