Summer School "AI and IoT for Measurement Systems in Health and Energy Sectors 2026 – Second Edition"

The School of Engineering and Management of the University of Nova Gorica is offering 5 student places for the Erasmus+ (Blended Intensive Programme) summer school "AI and IoT for Measurement Systems in Health and Energy Sectors 2026 – Second Edition", which will take place in two phases:

  • Live online lectures: every Thursday afternoon in September and October 2026 (24 September, 1 October, 8 October, 15 October), from 14:30 to 17:30 (CET),
  • On-site lectures in Rome (Italy): from Monday, 26 October 2026 at 14:00 until Friday, 30 October 2026 at 12:30 (CET).


Summer School Description

The programme aims to provide a multidisciplinary perspective on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) can be integrated to design, implement, and optimize advanced measurement and monitoring systems. Particular emphasis will be placed on applications in the health and energy sectors, where AI- and IoT-enabled solutions are transforming data acquisition, decision-making, and system intelligence. Participants will engage in a combination of online synchronous learning and in-person intensive sessions, benefiting from international collaboration, hands-on activities, and exposure to emerging research trends.


The organizer offers accommodation in shared rooms at the student residence of Niccolò Cusano University: https://www.unicusano.it/en/facilities/the-residenzaunicusanoTravel and other expenses are to be covered by each student within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.


The call is open to:

  • 2nd-year undergraduate students (3 available places),
  • all students of the Master’s programme in Engineering and Management (2 available places).


Application Procedure

Applications must be submitted no later than 15 March 2026 to the Office of the School of Engineering and Management or via email at helena.skrl@ung.si.


Selection Criteria

Priority will be given to:

  • students with higher academic performance (average grade of completed exams, up to 5 points),
  • students with professional/scientific publications (+5 points),
  • participation in student projects at the University of Nova Gorica (+5 points).

Undergraduate students may earn up to 3 ECTS credits through participation.
