Impressions from the summer school: Modeling and manufacturing of light aircraft models using 3D printing technology, Slovenj Gradec and Vipava, 26th–30th August 2024

The summer school was attended by young people aged 14 to 18, who explored the field of modeling and manufacturing light aircraft models. Using 3D printing, they created prototypes based on their models, which were successfully flown.

The representatives from Gogetair Aircraft introduced participants to the process of designing and modeling light aircraft, while a representative from Hexagon demonstrated the scanning of a real light aircraft model. Participants also learned about 3D modeling and printing technologies, the principles of flight, aviation, and reverse engineering. Moreover, the Koroška Aeroclub Slovenj Gradec and the Josip Križaj Aeroclub Ajdovščina presented aircraft to the participants.

The summer school was organized by the School of Environmental Sciences of the University of Nova Gorica and the Faculty of Polymer Technology as part of the project Promoting STE(A)M Studies for Future Careers, funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport (MIZŠ).
