University of Nova Gorica – European Talent Point

In 2016, the University of Nova Gorica became one of the officially registered European Talent Points and thus joined the European Talent Support Network.

The university was granted the status of a European Talent Point based on a positive evaluation according to the criteria set by the European Council for High Ability (ECHA). This accreditation represents ECHA’s innovative initiative to connect individuals and institutions across Europe who are involved in giftedness and talent development in various ways – through research, professional work, or community engagement.

In its role as a European Talent Point, the University of Nova Gorica supports highly motivated students in various ways. The university’s range of activities and initiatives for gifted and highly motivated students includes:

  • opportunities to engage in scientific and research activities (laboratory work, participation in conferences, contributing to the development of scientific and professional publications, etc.),
  • opportunities to participate in student projects (e.g. student innovation projects like INSPIRO),
  • support for students’ initiatives and realisation of their own ideas,
  • organisation of summer/winter schools and other forms of education in fields of particular interest to gifted students,
  • provision of scholarships for gifted students, awarded through the "Edvard Rusjan" Scholarship Fund of the University of Nova Gorica Foundation,
  • support for specific groups of talented students (scholarships for athletes etc.).

Many activities, such as summer schools, are also available to secondary and primary school students.
