Strengthening the innovation capacities of cross-border regions requires effective collaboration between educational institutions and their surrounding environment.

The universities that are members of the ACROSS European Cross-Border University Alliance will reinforce their ties with industry, other socio-economic actors, and the wider public through:

• collaboration with businesses,
  
• support for innovation,
  
• the ACROSS University–Business Gateway,
  
• the establishment of ACROSS Border Engagement Centres, which will serve as physical spaces for collaboration between universities, businesses, and society in the fields of research, education, and culture,
  
• open science initiatives,
  
• various lifelong learning programmes aimed at the general public.
