University of Nova Gorica cultivates ties with regional entrepreneurs within the Across Alliance

On Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, the University of Nova Gorica, in collaboration with the Northern Primorska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted entrepreneurs from this region. In his introductory address, Prof. Dr. Matjaž Valant, Vice-rector for sustainable development and technology, briefly presented the University of Nova Gorica, highlighting its membership in the ACROSS – the European Cross-Border University Alliance. Within its Team Task 3.4, the ACROSS Alliance strives to foster cross-border collaboration in the field of research and innovation among member universities and external partners, as well as between research institutions and the business sector. Prof Dr. Matjaž Valant is the leader of this team task.

The introductory address was followed by short presentations of several contractual and project collaborations between the University of Nova Gorica and local and foreign businesses from across different fields. These presentations showcased the excellence of our researchers at the University of Nova Gorica and the applicative qualities of their research. Entrepreneurs were also shown laboratories at the university campus in Ajdovščina, where the event took place.

Refreshments followed, during which Brigita Habjan Štolfa, director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Northern Primorska, and Prof. Dr. Imre Cikajlo, Dean of the School of Engineering and Management at UNG, expressed their wish to further strengthen ties between the University of Nova Gorica and regional businesses.
