Presentations of the ACROSS Alliance for students of the University of Nova Gorica
Between 17th and 19th November 2025, the University of Nova Gorica held a series of presentations of the ACROSS European Cross-Border University Alliance for its students. The events took place at the university premises in the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava, in Ajdovščina, and in Rožna Dolina, where participants were introduced to the opportunities offered by the alliance.
The ACROSS European Cross-Border University Alliance strives to co-create a common and more inclusive European Higher Education Area. Its expanded educational offer, accessible to residents of cross-border regions across Europe and beyond, will, through targeted programmes, trainings, and other forms of lifelong learning — including the possibility of obtaining micro-credentials — enable the development of competencies needed in the modern labour market. Expanded forms of international mobility will at the same time provide students with an authentic European study experience and opportunities to gain additional knowledge.
The alliance will offer students an enriched and high-quality educational experience, which includes joint study programmes of European universities, a selection of jointly accredited courses, additional physical and virtual forms of international mobility, an expanded range of summer and winter schools and other lifelong learning programmes with the option of obtaining micro-credentials, the ACROSS Graduate School, the digital hub ACROSS e-campus, and the so-called European Degree.
European Universities are an initiative of the European Union aimed at creating international networks of universities with the goal of shaping a common, innovative, and inclusive educational space for the future.
The ACROSS European Cross-Border University Alliance brings together 10 small and medium-sized European universities from various medium-sized border cities, including 9 full partners. Alongside the University of Nova Gorica, the alliance includes Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany), Białystok University of Technology (Poland), the University of Udine (Italy), the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (France), the University of Girona (Spain), the University of Craiova (Romania), and Angel Kanchev University of Ruse (Bulgaria). The associated partner university is Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine).
The students of the University of Nova Gorica showed exceptional interest during the presentations and actively participated in discussions, asked questions, and shared their thoughts on the opportunities offered by the alliance. Some have already attended ACROSS summer schools and returned enthusiastic about the content and the additional knowledge they had gained. The students particularly highlighted their interest in international exchanges and summer schools, as they see the ACROSS Alliance as an opportunity to gain international experience, broaden their professional competencies, and receive support for their further studies and career development.
