European Cross-Border Platform – Annual Meeting 2025

Assoc. Prof. Tina Smrekar attended the annual meeting of the European Cross-Border Platform that was held on the 13th and 14th November 2025 in Gorizia. During the two-day meeting, they highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation and the involvement of young people in cross-border initiatives. They discussed the BRIDGEforEU Resolution that the European Parliament adopted with the aim of addressing the obstacles to development and economic growth of cross-border regions. They also mentioned the importance of various instruments that spur cross-border cooperation, such as the European Territorial Cooperation INTERREG programs and Small Project Funds (SPF), which finance small projects within the framework of the European Capitals of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia. They presented two pilot projects of the Resilient Borders program that strives for greater integration and resilience of the European border regions.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Tina Smrekar highlighted the ACROSS European Cross-border University Alliance as a good example of cross-border cooperation in the field of education and the involvement of young people and universities in such projects.
