Master`s study programme Humanities studies

General requirements for enrolment are:

  • course track History and Culture of Crossborder Spaces: To enroll, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s (B.A.) study programme in the amount of at least 180 ECTS in history, cultural studies, Slovene studies, comparative literature, classical philology and other humanities programmes covering topics in history or cultural studies
  • course track Linguistic: To enroll, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s study programme in the amount of at least 180 ECTS in the field of Slovene studies, comparative Slavic linguistics, general linguistics, classical philology or other humanities programmes that include contents pertaining to the field of linguistics.
  • course track Literary Science: To enroll, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s (B.A.) study programme in the amount of at least 180 ECTS in Slovene studies, comparative literature, classical philology and other humanities programmes that include contents pertaining to the field of the literary sciences.

Applicants with a bachelor’s (B.A.) study programme in other fields of study (180 ECTS) should send the application to the School’ study programme committee.

Anyone who has completed a Master's or another program of comparable level in the same or comparable fields can be recognized with obligations of up to 60 ECTS and can thus enroll in the second year of the corresponding Humanities studies program. At the time of enrolment, compulsory exams of up to 24 ECTS can be determined for them individually, so that they acquires knowledge complementary to their previous studies. These exams are determined from the set of all compulsory and optional exams of the relevant course of the Master's study program in Humanities studies. In addition to them, the student must complete the Individual Research Work and the Master's thesis, but may also take other compulsory, elective and general elective courses, so that he collects a total of 60 ECTS.

Course tracks are available also in English language. The general minimum level of English language skills required is B2 (in accordance with CEFR).

SPECIAL NOTE: Starting with the 2020/21 academic year, the programme (Linguistic) offers an option of awarding a double degree in Language Science, in collaboration with Ca’Foscari University of Venice.The main characteristics of the programme are: focus on individual research work, a range of electives covering all major subdisciplines of linguistics, and students’ participation in on-going research activities.

Candidates who wish to apply to a double degree in Language Science in collaboration with Ca’Foscari University of Venice, must apply to both programmes. Information on admission to „Language Science”, Ca’Foscari University of Venice, are available here.
