Certificate LGBT frendly
The University has been certified LGBT-friendly in 2024. The LGBT-Friendly project is coordinated by the Department of Health and Social Welfare of the Municipality of Ljubljana https://www.ljubljana.si/sl/moja-ljubljana/odprto-in-dostopno-mesto/lgbt/certifikat-lgbt-prijazno/ ). So far, 56 organisations have been awarded the certificate.
The LGBT Friendly Certificate is primarily aimed at raising awareness. The LGBT people face embarrassments, problems and discrimination that heterosexual people sometimes do not even notice, because they come from their own point of view and take it for granted (e.g. talking about their partner, talking about their children). The aim is to create a climate that is positive for all within the working, academic and study environment, as well as externally.
By obtaining the certificate, recipients commit themselves to ensuring that their organisation:
- has a better understanding of the fundamental human rights of LGBT people;
- provides an inclusive environment for LGBT colleagues;
- aims to raise awareness among employees in the provision of services and facilities for LGBT users;
- supports an increased sensitivity to perceived violations of LGBT rights in the working and user environment.
If you feel that the University of Nova Gorica is not living up to its commitments, you may send your opinion to: equality@ung.si. The Commission considers all comments and observations submitted by service users and employees. In the event of negative comments, the Commission will first warn the certificate holder and may withdraw the certificate in the event of serious violations.
