Lapanje distinction
Friday 1st of October, The Slovenian Biochemical Society (Slovensko biokemijsko društvo) awarded the Lapanje distinction (Lapanjetovo priznanje) for young members of the Slovenian Biochemical Society for outstanding achievements in biochemical sciences to dr. Fabio Lapenta, a post-doctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Environmental and life science at the University of Nova Gorica.
Dr. Fabio Lapenta received his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana in October of 2019, completing his research work at the Department of Synthetic Biology and Immunology at the National Institute of Chemistry, under the supervision of prof. Roman Jerala. In January of 2021 he moved to the Laboratory for Environmental and Life Science at the University of Nova Gorica, where he joined a research project focused on HPV infection and oncogenesis lead by prof. Martina Bergant Marušič. In October 2021, the Slovene research agency (ARRS) started funding his post-doctoral project, which is focused on the understanding of vault ribonucleoproteins’ role in the context of viral infection.
This award is a recognition of dr. Lapenta early-career achievements in the field of biochemistry and an encouragement to pursue new research activities.
