Honorary Doctors of the University of Nova Gorica
The University of Nova Gorica is proud to announce that this year’s recipients of the title of Honorary Doctor – Doctor Honoris Causa – of the University of Nova Gorica are Prof. Dr. Carole Mundell, Director of Science at the European Space Agency (ESA), and Prof. Dr. Joachim Mnich, Director for Research and Computing at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

At its session of 14 May 2025, the Senate of the University of Nova Gorica decided to confer the title of Honorary Doctor – Doctor Honoris Causa – of the University of Nova Gorica on Prof. Dr. Carole Mundell for her long-standing and fruitful scientific collaboration with researchers at the Centre for Astrophysics and Cosmology of the University of Nova Gorica, and for her outstanding contributions to their international recognition in the global research community.
At its session of 14 May 2025, the Senate of the University of Nova Gorica decided to confer the title of Honorary Doctor – Doctor Honoris Causa – of the University of Nova Gorica on Prof. Dr. Joachim Mnich for for his exceptional contributions to the development of high-energy physics in Slovenia, also at the University of Nova Gorica, for advancing the international recognition of Slovenian researchers in this field, and for his role in the progress of experimental elementary particle physics.
The honorary titles will be awarded at the ceremonial academic session marking the 30th anniversary of the University of Nova Gorica, on 24 September 2025.
