The LGBT friendly certificate is a recognition awarded by the Municipality of Ljubljana to organisations committed to respect, equality and non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

At the University of Nova Gorica, we believe that everyone has the right to a safe and respectful environment, and we will continue to work towards ensuring equality and respect for all. This acquisition is an affirmation of our efforts to date to create a community where everyone feels comfortable regardless of identity, occupation or gender.

At a ceremony held on 28 November 2024 at the City Museum of Ljubljana, the LGBT certificate was received by Prof. Mag. Tina Smrekar on behalf of the University of Nova Gorica .

On this occasion, we once again invite the academic and wider community to join our efforts to create an inclusive university for all by supporting the LGBTIQ community, which can be demonstrated through awareness-raising and open dialogue.
