Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the field of nanobody discovery (m/f/o)

The Laboratory for Environmental and Life Sciences (LELS) has an open position for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant for researchers interested in pursuing their scientific and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica (UNG).

They will be involved in the isolation, engineering, production and characterization of nanobodies and nanobody-derived immunoreagents suitable for comparative oncology projects and for the characterization of extracellular vesicles.

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in the field of Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology, with interest in combining different technologies and enthusiasm in exploring new approaches. The optimal candidate should already have robust experience in standard procedures for cloning, protein purification (chromatographic techniques), characterization (ELISA, IP, WB, biochemical assays) and labelling. Previous lab experience, proved by scientific publications, in phage display technology, nanobody engineering, flow cytometry or immunohistochemistry will be considered as a plus during the selection procedure. As the projects are multinational and collaborative, the candidate will be expected to visit our partner institutions and maintain effective communication with them.

The position will be available as soon as the selection will be completed. Employment is offered for full-time working hours. The selected candidate will be appointed for 24 months.

The successful candidate should satisfy the following minimal requirements:

• A PhD degree or equivalent in the field of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, microbiology or similar.
• At least three years of work experience in a research lab.
• Good command of English.
