Representatives of the School of Humanities and the School of Arts, Dr. Kristina Pranjić and Dr. Peter Purg, met with the management, researchers and students of the Josai University (Saitama) and the Josai International University (Tokyo/Chiba).

They also discussed future joint projects and upcoming cooperations in the framework of the European Capital of Culture 2025 (GO!BORDERLESS 2025). The meetings with Japanese cultural and artistic institutions will bring significant international productions and guest appearances to the Goriška cross-border region.

The presentation of the University of Nova Gorica and the GO!BORDERLESS 2025 program also took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo, where a ceremony to mark the Statehood Day was conducted in the presence of numerous supporters of the cooperation between Japan and Slovenia. On this occasion, the handing over of the honorary doctorate awarded in 2021 by the University of Nova Gorica to the renowned writer Haruki Murakami was announced.
