Assistant PhD student in the field of comparative oncology (m/f)
The University of Nova Gorica is offering position of assistant PhD student in the field of comparative oncology.

We invite applications from candidates interested research in the filed of comparative oncology.
The project aims at identifying molecular tools suitable for comparative oncology studies aimed at improving the diagnosis and cure of rare cancers such as mucosal melanoma. The open position for a PhD student would be ideally fulfilled by a candidate with a background in biology/biotechnology who has interest in both human and veterinary oncology as well as in the development of biotechnological solutions to be applied inside a multidisciplinary team. Any previous experience in protein purification, molecular biology and phage display will be highly appreciated.
The research work will be in Laboratory for Environmental and Life sciences under the mentorship of prof. dr. Ario de Marco.
As part of their employment, the candidate will work towards attaining a PhD degree as a student in the doctoral study program Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica.
In accordance with their appointment, the successful candidate will also take on teaching duties in the field of microbiology and oncology in selected study programmes at the university.
The employment will be possible immediately after the selection procedure or when agreed. The employment is offered for full-time working hours over a fixed term of four years.
The successful candidate should satisfy the following requirements:
- master's (2nd-cycle) degree or equivalent in the field of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, microbiology or similar,
- enrolment in the 3rd-cycle program in the Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica in the 2022/23 academic year,
- good command of English.
