Post-Doctoral Assistant or Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics (m/f)

The candidate will work in the Centre for Information Technologies and Applied Mathematics in an interdisciplinary research group that operates at the intersection of computer science, information science, mathematics, system theory and automatic control systems. The group develops new approaches to modelling and applies them to a variety of fields, from biomedicine to education and industry. It also develops methods for intelligent data analysis and knowledge discovery.
The selected candidate will conduct research in the field of applied mathematics, in particular in areas related to mathematical modelling and/or mathematical statistics. Their appointment will also include teaching obligations in mathematical and statistical subjects at the School of Engineering and Management and in study programmes at other schools within the university.
To be considered for the position, candidates should:
- have a doctorate of science in applied mathematics/statistics/mathematics,
- have a good command of English,
- be independent, adaptable to work in an international group,
- research experience and internationally recognized publications in the field of applied mathematics.
Priority will be given to candidates with experience in mathematical modelling/mathematical statistics, where such experience must be supported by original scholarly publications, and candidates who hold the title of assistant professor/docent or who meet the conditions for holding the title of assistant professor/docent.
The preferred starting date is immediately after the closure of the procedure or by agreement. Employment is at the location of the University of Nova Gorica in the Lanthieri Mansion, Vipava. The contract is for full-time working hours over a fixed term of 12 months with possibility of extension.
