Research assistant or research associate in the field of biocomposite materials with antibacterial activities (m/f)

The position is dedicated to candidates with interest in pursuing the research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica (UNG). We offer the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supported by state-of-the-art research equipment and with a strong involvement in international research contexts. 
Research will take place at the Laboratory for Environmental and Life sciences (LELS) in the field of biocomposite materials with antibacterial activities. In accordance with their appointment, the successful candidate will also take on teaching duties for materials characterization and analytical instrumental techniques in some study programmes.

Candidates are expected to: * have a PhD degree in the field of Organic Chemistry, Material Science or related fields, * good command in English language, * preferentially have a research experience abroad.

We are looking for an experienced scientist with theoretical background and work experience in the fields of: organic synthesis, biocomposites, laser spectroscopy, mathematical modelling and material characterization (supported by original scholarly publications). Priority will be given to candidates with experience in optothermal spectrometry and instrumentation.

Candidates for the position of assistant professor must have the proper habilitation or should meet the conditions for holding the rank of assistant professor or equivalent according to the rules of the University of Nova Gorica.

The position will be available as soon as the selection will be completed and no later than October 15th, 2020. The selected candidate will be appointed for 12 months, with a possible extension of the contract. Employment is offered as a full-time position.
