Invite to the “SEM” exhibition
From Thursday, March 27, 2014 onwards, the Research Center of the University of Nova Gorica in Ajdovščina (Vipavska 11c, Ajdovščina) will be showing an exhibition of graphics titled »SEM«.
Why cannot we write the entire 24 volumes of the Encyclopedia Brittanica on the head of a pin? This is the initial question and the impulse for artistic research on small scales. The scanning electron microscope at the University of Nova Gorica was used by visual artists Vanja Mervič, Narvika Bovcon and Aleš Vaupotič in an attempt to open a view into a new space. The technical image mediates the events in this environment, however to comprehend such a technical image remains a task for future explorations. Exhibited are digital prints that build a bridge between the human living space and the landscapes on the micro and nano scale. SEM operator and sample preparation: Doc Dr Mattia Fanetti. The exhibition will be open from 27 September, 2014 onwards, from Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm.
