ASSISTANT PROFESSOR or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Position: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
Number of available posts: 1 person (m/f)
Term: 2 years, with contract renewal each year, possibility of tenure after two years
Start of the term: As soon as possible in 2014

Job description:
The successful candidate will be included into the research activities of the Laboratory for Astroparticle Physics in one of the international collaborations, Pierre Auger, Belle2 or CTA. He/she will be expected to show motivation and self-initiative in pursuing advanced research, applying for national and international project funding grants, as well as demonstrate organizational and leadership skills.
The position also entails teaching physics topics at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Qualification:
- the applicant must have a PhD degree in physics
- knowledge of Slovenian language is a prerequisite for a tenured
position (University of Nova Gorica organizes language courses
for non-speakers)

Method of Selection:
An interview with the candidate is a mandatory part of the selection process. The interview may be conducted via an internet-based teleconference.

Salary:
Paid monthly, ranging between 20000-24000 EUR per year (after tax).
In addition, full medical coverage and social security is paid for by
the University, as well as supplementary allowance for comuting.
