Symposium at the 80th Birthday of the Honorary Professor dr. Gregor Kocijan; Slovene Literature Between Tradition and Innovation
At the 80th birthday of dr. Gregor Kocijan, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica is putting together a symposium titled Slovene Literature between Tradition and Innovation. It will be held on Tuesday, 28 May 2013, in the conference room of the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.
The event is dedicated to an esteemed literary historian who, in his research, contributed greatly to the Slovene literary scholarship, particularly on prose works that were created between 1850 and 1941 and the 19th century Slovene poetry. Moreover, he analyzed the relationship between the book and the reader, he wrote a monograph on Janko Kersnik and was also an established writer of text books for literature, intended for higher grades of elementary school as well as for high school students. Kocijan also worked as an editor, namely, he edited the Jezik in slovstvo journal between 1982 and 1988. From 1975 onwards, dr. Gregor Kocijan held professorships at the University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor and University of Nova Gorica.
At the symposium, Slovene researchers (Milena Mileva Blažić, Zoran Božič, Jožica Čeh, Miran Hladnik, Alenka Koron, Katja Mihurko Poniž and Megi Rožič) will talk about the importance of Kocijan’s research, pedagogical and editorial work and discuss the way their own research connects with Kocijan’s scholarhip.
