1st SMASHing worksh

This is the first network event organized by the SMASH project and is expected to gather about 70 international and local scientists working on developing cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for science and humanities.

SMASH is a multidisciplinary program co-funded by the European Commission via the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND action and connects scholars from five top-level institutions in Slovenia with 25 associated partners, Slovenian businesses and academic institutions globally. The goal of the network is to lead the exploration of how artificial intelligence and machine learning can modernize the science of today, with a particular focus on data science, fundamental physics, linguistics climate and precision medicine.

The First SMASHing workshop will gather scientists working in the SMASH research areas with the aim to create a stimulating environment which will foster knowledge exchange between different fields and between academia and industry, thereby building the SMASH community. In addition to invited lectures and talks the workshop will have discussion sessions and ample time for exchange of ideas.

On Tuesday, October 8th, the network will host a public panel debate on the impact of artificial intelligence on science and society.
