Natalia Shtompel
Hi everyone! Dober dan!
I am Natalia Shtompel from the Ukraine.
Thanks to the INFINITY project of the “Erasmus Mundus” international program I am taking part in the PhD program “Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage” at the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
I feel really lucky coming here because Nova Gorica is a very beautiful and very interesting historical place (a transborder metropolitan zone with the Italian town of Gorizia). I love the environment in which we learn. Everyone at the University is so welcoming and works so hard to make us feel at home here.
My native city in the Ukraine – Kharkiv is a one and a half million megapolis with a historic centre, where most of the buildings were made in the “eclectic” and “Art Nouveau” styles (the styles that were used in the cities of the Habsburg Empire). Interesting projects and financial means are necessary to preserve the historic environment in Kharkiv.
My study program “Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the
Architectural and Environmental Heritage” is very interesting and dynamic. And there is an international team of great lecturers coming from different universities and countries.
For me it is a new way of looking at cultural heritage: thinking about
cultural heritage not only in terms of preservation and protection but
also in terms of the economic value of the goods, political, economical
motivation for the promotion of heritage.
Thank you for this wonderful experience!
Sincerely,
Natalia Shtompel
