“I chose Slovenia because I love poetry, I read the poetry of France Prešeren when I was a child and his poems are full of beauty and make people positive and optimistic. I hope to be able to walk around the land that he loved so much and to appreciate the sentiments and romanticism of this great poet.
I chose the University of Nova Gorica because it is a young university and it adheres to an elite philosophy that makes the students more diverse and international. In particular, the small class sizes allow us to fully interact with our professors and learn through communication and sharing.
The Cultural Heritage program is a strong program in Europe, especially in Italy. However, most Italian universities are taught in Italian, which is very difficult for international students. The University of Nova Gorica is the only university in Slovenia that offers Cultural Heritage studies and the professors come from several universities in Italy, France and England. Moreover, our university is the only one to have a joint degree program with IUAV University in Venice, which allows us to get more resources and opportunities to study. For example, my PhD is supervised by Prof. Dr. Saša Dobričič and Prof. Dr. Xavier Greffe from the Paris 1 Sorbonne University in France.
Sustainable development has become a hot topic in the world today. Cultural heritage is relatively cold compared to business and finance, but it has an important role in promoting sustainable development of the country and the world, the memory and history of the city, and the new growth of the economy.
At the same time, I hope the university can provide some scholarship opportunities for international students, especially to strengthen the cooperation with relevant national scholarship institutions such as the National Foundation for International Students in China to provide a strong guarantee for our research.”
