Testimony of Tiziano Biagi
Student of Digital Arts and Practices
My name is Tiziano, I am 24 and I come from Trieste, Italy 🇮🇹. I got to know about the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica during my last year of high school through a friend who at the time was attending the first year. I later decided to apply to this School because of the programmes in photography and video film. Since then, I’ve been very happy with my choice; being a student of the School allowed me to improve my technical skills and knowledge in the fields I already knew, and to discover new ways to express myself through experimenting with art forms and techniques I had never encountered before. Throughout the academic year, in addition to the regular courses and their projects, there are many different workshops that allow the students to work closely with guest artists and to learn from them, which I believe are very important experiences.
During these years, I also had the opportunity to work with students from other parts of the world with whom I share similar interests and passions. As a student, an aspiring artist and a young man, I believe that meeting people from other countries and continents and getting to know more about their cultures is a vital step to improve our society and build a future based on respect and equality. Furthermore, I had the chance to apply for the Erasmus+ programme and to spend several months abroad in the last academic year. I decided to take this opportunity to do an internship in a contemporary art gallery in Lisbon, Portugal, where I worked side by side with artists and curators in developing and setting up their shows.
When I look back at my experience at the School of Arts now that I am about to graduate, I realize that one of the things I like the most about it is the type of relationship that the professors, other staff and School’s leaders establish with students. At the School, there is an open and safe environment that made me feel free to express my thoughts and standpoints, both with my fellow students and professors and to set up honest and direct dialogues with the School’s leaders.
