Objectives and competences

The aim of the course is to provide an insight into the most current events in the field of development and use of computer technologies in the humanities and in the field of communications. Students will develop the ability to confront with new trends and thinking about them, and also they will be able to learn about the content of the neighbouring areas that are relevant to the digital humanities.

Presentations of the works of selected scholars and and experts in the fields of digital humanities, interface design, creative technologies, new media art etc.

The course allows the study program to respond without delay to the latest trends in the field of humanities, information technology and new media.

 Knowledge of the latest developments and trends in the field of digital humanities and new media.
 Ability of independent thinking on new developments in the field of digital humanities and new media.

Readings

Due to the nature of the subject literature is not prescribed in advance. It is determined each year so as to follow latest developments in the field. Partly it is found by the students through research as a part of the study process.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aleš Vaupotič is the dean of the School of Humanities, a lecturer in literature, and the head of the Research centre for humanities, University of Nova Gorica. His research areas include digital humanities, theory of new media art, literary realism, and theory of discourse. He is also a video and new media artist. Selected articles:
