Welcoming New Students to the University of Nova Gorica
Today, we welcomed new students at the Orientation Day of the University of Nova Gorica, marking the beginning of their academic journey.
The event took place at the University Centre of the University of Nova Gorica in Vipava, where the new students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the environment in which they will spend the coming years and learn about key student support services and opportunities offered by the University.
At the beginning of the new academic year, the new students were welcomed by Rector of the University of Nova Gorica Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob. Representatives of the University's services also spoke about their work and the support they provide to students in their studies and other aspects of student life.
Rector Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob welcomed the new students and emphasised that starting university is an important step that will have a significant impact on their future.
“At our university, we are quite proud of the fact that we are a relatively small university, which allows us to provide individual attention to each student,” the Rector said, adding that teachers are always ready to listen and offer support if students encounter difficulties in their studies or personal challenges.
“I sincerely hope that you will quickly become part of the University of Nova Gorica community and that you will also enjoy your time here alongside your studies,” he added.
The Orientation Day was primarily aimed at helping students familiarise themselves with the University environment and the people they can turn to for support during their studies. At the information stands, students could learn more about the Student Office, Career Center and other support services, the Erasmus+ mobility programme, the Across alliance, the Student Council and partner institutions.
The day continued in a relaxed atmosphere with icebreaker activities and socialising, giving the new students an opportunity to meet their future classmates, representatives of the University and the wider environment in which they will spend an important part of their academic journey.
As the Rector emphasised, another purpose of the Orientation Day is to help new students “find their way around the University, which will be their home for some time.”
