University of Nova Gorica and Science and Research Centre Koper to strengthen their cooperation in research and education

Today at the University of Nova Gorica the Rector, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob, and Director of the Science and Research Centre Koper, Prof. Dr. Rado Pišot, have signed an agreement on a long-term cooperation in the field of educational and scientific-research work.

The agreement is an important step towards a closer cooperation of the two institutions and an upgrade of the existing successful cooperation.

The partnership is aimed at developing mutual research ativities, upgrading the study contents and strengthening the educational process, as well as at mutual cooperation in national and international projects. A strong emphasis will be given to the fields in which knowledge and expertise of the two institutions complement each other, such as linguistics and other humanities fields, environmental and history studies, as well as research in the field of viticulture, enology and olive studies.

Upon signing the agreement the Rector, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob, pointed out the importance of creating links among Slovenian research and higher education institutions for the purpose of achieving a greater international recognition and excellence. He also added that the cooperation with the Scientific-research centre Koper strenghtened both of the two institutions, with the signed agreement opening up new opportunities for a more systematic and in-depth mutual work.

Director Prof. Dr. Rado Pišot pointed out tbat the agreement confirmed the long-lasting, successful cooperation between the two institutions and represented a testament for its further strenghtening. He expressed his belief that the two insitutions would continue with their successful joint projects and with upgrading their cooperation in the fields of research and education, especially within postgraduate and doctoral programmes. He also congretulated the University of Nova Gorica on its thirty year anniversary and wished the University a successful path in the future.

The two institutions have not only justified their existence over the past thirty years of activity but have also positioned themselves visibly within some very specific scientific-research and study fields. The latter will be upgraded through the continuing process of cooperation.
