How to gain experience in space technologies?
At the School of Science of the University of Nova Gorica, we presented the Academy of the European Space Agency (ESA). Joost Vanreusel from ESA presented the opportunities offered by various courses and summer schools available to students through the ESA Academy. Representatives of the Slovenian Space Office also shared their positive experiences with ESA.
Students were also introduced to three Slovenian companies that have successfully entered the space technologies market. In short presentations, the companies Sinergise, C-Astral, and Instrumentation Technologies demonstrated how they have succeeded in this emerging market and what knowledge and skills they are looking for.
In this way, we presented our students with a broader range of career opportunities after graduation. At the School of Science, we offer our students a strong foundation in physics, ranging from astrophysics to advanced materials and future technologies, which will undoubtedly play a key role in the development of the space sector.
The programme is supported by top-level research conducted by our colleagues in the fields of astrophysics and cosmology, novel materials for energy production and storage, two-dimensional semiconductors, and hybrid quantum materials.
We are also developing a new study programme on materials in space, which will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills for work, development, and research in the space sector, both at home and abroad. The ESA Academy further offers excellent opportunities to gain practical experience that builds on the knowledge acquired during their studies.
In the future, the School of Science at the University of Nova Gorica aims to strengthen its collaboration with the Slovenian Space Office and ESA.
